WHATS THE BUZZ ABOUT ORGANIC COSMECEUTICALS?

WHAT IS A COSMECEUTICAL?

Cosmeceuticals are a hybrid of the words “cosmetic” and “pharmaceutical” which eludes to their scientific and medical origin. Cosmeceuticals contain high concentrations of active ingredients with the potential to bring about active and visible changes in the skin with continued use. Cosmeceuticals are backed by clinical evidence and are results focussed products.

Each ingredient has been meticulously researched for their suitability in organic formulation, ingredient safety, efficacy and high performance suitable for all skin types. Founder, Cassandra Hilton, combines cosmetic chemistry with a deep understanding of natural and organic ingredients to create a unique fusion of cosmeceutical actives and botanical extracts. By fusing botanical extracts with cosmeceutical actives we are able to increase the performance of the active ingredient, a synergistic relationship that benefits your skin.

CAN A COSMECEUTICAL BE ORGANIC?

There are several cosmeceutical ingredients that have reached organic certification and suitability for inclusion in organic formulation, this will vary between organic certifying bodies and regulators. We utilise recognised cosmeceutical actives, predominately anti-oxidants that are approved for organic certification, that are backed by science for both performance and safety.

COSMECEUTICAL INGREDIENT MUST-HAVES

Containing high concentrations of active ingredients, cosmeceutical skincare will often combine a variety of active ingredients in formulation for increased effectiveness. The active nature of cosmeceutical ingredients have the ability to penetrate deeper into the skin, facilitated by transport of low molecular compounds such as hyaluronic acid. It is here that the actives perform their most vital functions for skin.

Cosmeceutical ingredients that are a must have-

Retinol, Vitamin A

This antioxidant, fat soluble vitamin stimulates cell renewal & collagen production making it a key ingredient in anti-ageing skincare. It stimulates the dermis and increases blood flow to the skin, making it effective in reversing the signs of photo-damage and improving the appearance of wrinkles and problematic skin. Retinol is known for the ability to speeds up your skin’s cell renewal processes to diminish pigmentation & sun-damage, refine skin texture plus reduces scarring & lines.

Niacinamide, Vitamin B3

Niacinamide is a skin care work horse and true cellular communicating ingredient, enhancing the skins function and cellular synthesis, for improved collagen structure and firmer skin. Niacinamide is one of the most effective natural treatments for tissue refinement where it enhances the skin's ability to de-congest and clear acne while also evening out skin tone, for a smooth complexion.

Panthenol, Vitamin B5

This anti-stress (or calming) vitamin assists water absorption within the skin resulting in smooth, youthful complexion. Its hydrating properties allow for deep moisturisation resulting in healthier cells and tissues.

Ascorbic tetraisopalmitate, Vitamin C

A stable form of Vitamin C that brightens and evens skins tone and exhibits potent antioxidant activity thereby enhancing the skins vital repair processes. It contributes to radiant skin by reducing inflammation and visible signs of photo-damage whilst boosting collagen production to create plump and revitalised skin.

Ubiquinone, CoQ10

The natural production of Co Enzyme Q10 declines dramatically as we age. A key anti-oxidant, it has a role in protecting cells from the free radical damage to cellular membranes which protect against dehydration and other detrimental environmental effects. The collagen, which provides resilience and elasticity in our skin, can be compromised by free radical damage, leading to the visible signs of aging such as wrinkles and sagging skin. Co enzyme Q10 is a essential antioxidant for youthful radiance to your skin.

Tocopherols, Vitamin E

Known as the protective vitamin for the ability to quench free radicals, Vitamin E defends the cell membranes from internal and external stressors, particularly photo-ageing. It smoothes skin by locking in moisture to prevent trans-epidermal water-loss and repairs tissues leading to fewer fine lines and a nourished complexion.

Hyaluronic acid (pure, vegan source)

Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body and decreases as we age. The high water retention ability of hyaluronic acid maintains the epidermis suppleness and hydration, restoring smoothness and elasticity of the skin with the ability to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
